Vybz Kartel Urges Fans to Quickly Sign Petition for Lawyer Isat Buchanan Amid Controversy


Incarcerated dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel, has taken to his social media platforms to rally his followers in support of his lawyer, Isat Buchanan.

 on Saturday, Kartel shared a screenshot of a petition titled “Jamaica Supports Isat Buchanan,” created by Andre Stephens on August 02, 2023.

The petition aims to garner support for Buchanan, who has been facing backlash for quoting Vybz Kartel lyrics while referring to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Paula Llewellyn.

The petition has garnered significant attention, with 5,892 signatures gathered thus far, representing 78.56% of the 7,500 signatures required.

In the caption of the Instagram post, Kartel urged his followers to sign the petition, emphasising the strength in numbers. The link to the petition was also provided in his bio, making it easily accessible to his fan base.

The Dj’s call to action deeply with his loyal fans, who wasted no time expressing their unwavering support. Many fans commented that they had already signed the petition, while others eagerly requested the link to add their voices to the cause.

Isat Buchanan had apologised for using Vybz Kartel’s lyrics in his reference to the DPP. Despite the apology, there have been calls for his dismissal from his political roles and potential repercussions from the Jamaica Bar Association, which monitors the conduct of lawyers within the island.

Flippa was recently released after serving nine years in prison in the United States.
